Chapter 6 is about Dr. Kanzaki's past. The chapter opens with Dr. Kanzaki slipping away from rehearsal. He's tired and his mind drifts off to memories of the past.
He used to be a talented surgeon that the doctors and nurses all relied on at a famous hospital. Because he was talented and received a lot of compliments, he thought he was omnipotent, that he could cure anyone. Until one day a child with a severe disease became his patient.
Even though it seemed like he wouldn't be able to do much for the child he tried his best to tackle the child's disease. He wouldn't get much sleep, putting all his effort into this one case. But the child kept getting weaker and weaker. He felt like God was was laughing at his futile work. Eventually the child stopped breather in front of him.He did all that he could to keep the warmth from the child's body but he was stopped by the parents.
The parents thank him for having done all that he could do for their child. They were grateful for having believed in Dr. Kanzaki and they leave. But those words bother him. How could they have believed in him when he couldn't even save their child? So, he lost belief of himself that day and eventually quit at the hospital and became a school doctor at Moulin Academy.
He had decided to live the rest of his life tormenting himself. At Moulin Academy, there wouldn't be many cases where he would have to save a life. In his office at the academy he looked down to find the script of the play 'Run, Melos!' that Jun had written. He read the script and immediately questions the possibility of complete trust between two people.
He asked the script over and over but of course, no answer. So, three days later he asked Jun his opinion on the topic. And as we already know, Jun gave him an innocent answer like, Melos is Selinuntius' only friend to trust in the world. Jun's answer still left him doubtful. He laughs at himself for ever thinking of asking a young student such a question and Jun just stares at him with his beautiful eyes.
pssst. Notice that their clothes changed.
Surprised , Dr. Kanzaki turned around and brushed Jun's hands away. He makes up the excuse that everyone at rehearsal is waiting for them and they part leaving Dr. Kanzaki feeling warm and painful. Even he can give people encouragement. After that day his eyes would instinctively follow to wherever Jun would be.
He's finally come to realize that he may possess feelings for Jun and just scratches his head has he recalls countless expressions that Jun has made. He knows he shouldn't be thinking of Jun and it's painful for him. He finally just lays on his desk in defeat.
He reasons that the feelings he's having are just part of the script. If the feelings all just in the script then that would mean that the feelings would die with the end of the play. He decides to avoid Jun until the end of the play. Even though he's the one who made the decision, he feels lonely at the thought.
