File 4 Recap

Episode 3 ended with Ishikawa (the suspect being interrogated) about to tell Yukiko the truth about what he was doing with Yumi when she died.

Ishikawa's explanation begins when he mentions that his friend and Yumi's boyfriend, Yoichi, doesn't have a father. Yoichi's father abandoned him, but he could never hate him completely because he believed his father and a good reason for disappearing. Months before, Yoichi told Yumi about the situation with his father. Yumi had decided to look for his father on her own until the night of her death when she brought Ishikawa with her to confront Yoichi's father in his new address. Well, they did confront him but he just yelled at the two saying that he doesn't have children.

Now, this is where even more trouble starts. Because the two friends knew that their confrontation would hurt Yoichi, they (Ishikawa and Yumi) promised to take everything they knew to their graves. Their graves >< ! Anywho, the two parted and Yumi ends up dead a couple of hours later. That whole promise Ishikawa made with Yumi is the reason why never planned to tell anyone the truth, in fear that it would betray Yumi's last wish.

Yukiko and Ishikawa leave the room after the interrogation only to meet with a furious Yoichi lunging at Ishikawa. Tennoji and Kimura break up the fight but it doesn't stop Yoichi's accusations at Ishikawa, thinking that Ishikawa was trying to steal his girlfriend. He even blames Ishikawa for her death. Yoichi sobs as Ishikawa leaves him behind without any answers.

Sometime after that ordeal Yukiko wonders outloud if Ishikawa and Yoichi could ever reconcile. Because if they never do, then it'll be like they both lost Yumi and each other. But if they do then it'll be hard. Yadda yadda Kimura talks about how if the two had weaker relationship then they would have probably kept their friendship.

I won't go anymore into it but basically Kimura goes on about how the two actually really care about each other.

Yukiko doesn't understand what Kimura is thinking. Kimura looks detached and his voice is cold. He corrects her thinking, telling her that he is not the kind person she thinks he is.

-3 days later-
10PM
Yukiko sits down, drinking some cocoa as she thinks about what she has done so far for the case about Yumi's death. She's done a lot of interviewing but nothing useful has come up yet. She's in a hurry because 1st unit still believes Ishikawa is the murderer. Anywho, her thoughts get interrupted when she overhears two analysts talking about Kimura working overtime without recording it, for a case he isn't even assigned to. You guessed it, he's been voluntarily working on the case about Yumi's death.

Scene change to Yukiko peeking at Kimura in the crime lab. He turns around to find her handing over some desserts she got from the convenience store. She tries to brush it off as her offering him the food because she couldn't eat them all. But Kimura is suspicious. Yukiko? The girl with the bottomless pit? He goes along with her excuse though and thanks her for the food.

She finally brings up the topic about him working overtime on the murder case. He replies he just felt like it.

She admits to hearing about it from analysts passing by. She and analysts are worried about Kimura working himself sick. He makes a note to be more careful so not to worry others and Yukiko smiles. Kimura really is kind.

The End of Episode 4

***Comments***
I felt like this episode was a downer. But I know it was necessary to continue on with the story. And also, they're working on a murder case. Interesting, yes, but good? no. It's not like I hate it or anything, but yeah. I was actually pretty sad about case. Any choice Ishikawa chooses, to tell or not to tell, he loses something. I personally think he loses less by telling the truth. Then 1st Unit could get off his back, Yoichi won't feel betrayed or at a complete lost because they could be together. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH this made me think about Breaking Bad and how Walter Jr doesn't know why....his dad... Nevermind, I don't wanna spoil anything. Okay, back to the murder case. Anywho, stupid promises. Darn it Yumi!
I'm hungry right now so the comments end here.
